EJ, July 2007 issue

The third inteview of EJ July 2007 issue is Jim Bandrowski who talks about marketing strategies. This interview starts from marketing processes and he explains his marketing processes which consists of 5 stages as below,
1. identifying an unmet need in the marketplace, in other words "find a frustration" or "pain"
2. coming up with a lot of different possible business ideas for a solution for that need
3. selecting the best one ideas or combination of ideas
4. writing the business plan and the making plan
5. action step, implementing the plan
These processes can be applied to many aspects of our lives not only marketing processes, such as managing projects, solving problems in business or private, studying and so on. In some cases, for example, in order to solve specific problems, these processes starts from step 2 or 3. In such cases, following these steps are effective to solve or deal buisiness.
I think in all five steps, creativity or imagination is the important factor for each step. Without creativity or imagination, it might take time to deal each steps.
My high school math teacher said, "Creativity or Imagination is important in mathmatics but it is also in many aspects of your life in business or private life." Recently, I have notices what he said and importance of creativity or imagination more even in daily works. What if it is more specific or innnovative projects? Then what and how can I develope my creativity or imagination?

After that, he argues 4 component parts of positioning. These parts can be applied for my situation in many cases. Then I think what and how can I develope my ...?
1. unique
2. compelling to the customers
3. provable
4. memorable
The importance for the second part is "its benefit not its feature". In order to realize this kind of different point view, creativity or imagination might also be a key point.
