この4月号から，EJのスタイルが少し変わりました。これまでインタビュー間のガイドが日本語だったのが，英語になりました。それに伴って，1つめのインタビューにActors Studio Interviewが復活しました。この1年間掲載されていなかったのですが，復活して良かったなと思っています。特定の映画のインタビューではなく，1人の俳優のこれまでの活躍がテーマになっていますから，理解しやすいです。出だしのテーマ音楽を聴いて，「久しぶりだな」と思うとともに，わくわくしてしまいました。
今月はMatt Damonのインタビューです。Actors Studio Interviewの最後は，いつもお決まりの3つの質問で締めくくられます。これが俳優や女優後との個性が出て面白いんです。Matt Damonの答えも面白いです。
好奇心は常に前に進む原動力になるんだと，これまでも感じていますが，最近，強くなっているような気がします。
Lipton: We begin our class room with the questionnaire that was used to such great effect for 26 years by the best talk show host who's ever lived. His name is Benard Pivot. Matt, what turns you on?
Matt: People who are curious, you know, intellectually curious or creatively curious like, you know, Robert De Niro.
Lipton: Yeah. What turns you off?
Matt: People who aren't intellectually curious or creatively curious like our president.
Lipton: Finally, if Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
